No, that’s not Vanna White showing off a refrigerator on the Price Is Right, its Carole Burke, WB9RUS, Vice President of the Fort Wayne Radio Club (FWRC) showing off the DDB, Inc. Outside Equipment Enclosure that was recently donated to the club by Mike Peters of Peters Broadcast Engineering. The enclosure will be used to house the FWRC’s W9TE 146.940/.390 repeater at the WLDE-FM tower site on Parrott Rd. near New Haven. With an antenna at 280’, the system is expected to have a substantially improved footprint relative to the coverage it can now provide from its Parkview Hospital site. And this will work well for regional Storm Spotter and Emergency Response hams that depend upon the 146.940 machine as well as ACARTS’ 146.880 repeater for area emergency response communications.

The enclosure is designed to house telecommunications equipment in harsh environments and as such is ruggedly built and has provisions for integral heating and cooling. It will provide ample room for the new Yaesu Fusion DR1X repeater the club acquired for use on 146.340/.940 that enables both analog-FM as well as C4FM-CDMA digital FM operation.
