FWRC President Steve Nardin, W9SAN, draws the winning ticket
At this year’s Fort Wayne Hamfest we used a new “Incentive” idea to get people to pay next year’s dues ahead of time. We held a drawing for a dual band BaoFeng HT with programming cable and software, speaker mic, and charging base. Tickets for the drawing were distributed as one “free” ticket for an individual or family membership, either renewal or new, and extra
tickets for $1 each (no limit).
The result was fantastic: we have now 59 memberships already paid for next year! Plus the extra tickets sales have actually paid for the transceiver itself, so for the club it was all positive
cash flow! Wow! With a result like this, we are already planning something even nicer for next year!
SPECIAL THANKS:
Special thanks to the following for their help with this incentive:
Joseph Lawrence, K9RFZ, who made up the nice poster, had it laminated, and donated the eisel.
Top Rupp, KU8T, who bought the HT, and did the initial programming. Kim and Jim Machemer, KB9DOS + KB9DOT, who came up with the idea, and promoted it at a FWRC BOD meeting. Keep those great ideas coming!

WHEW! Wow, that is a fantastic roster for 2014 and it is not even December yet! THANK YOU to all that paid up for next year. We have tower work to do fot the 146.91 machine, the trailer needs new tires, and the club needs to buy a new repeater controller and also 4 new END-FEDZ half wave antennas.
OH…. by the way, …. the winner of the BaoFeng dual band HT is… (drum roll please..)
Ken Uhrick, KB9YKU. Ken received the HT at the ham fest at 11:00 am on Sunday, just after the drawing. Enjoy your new HT, Ken!!
For next year, any suggestions?? Maybe a mobile dual band radio? Or a nice accessory like an antenna analyzer or direct reading SWR bridge, antenna tuner, End Fedz antenna, QRP kit…. I can think of many things that would be cool to have that you don’t often buy yourself. Ideas are welcome!
Christmas Banquet
Please plan on joining us for the December Christmas Banquet: December 20th, 6:30 to 8:30 pm in Raasch Hall at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. All are welcome, 2013 and new 2014 Members.
