New and renewing FWRC members who pay their 2023 dues before the Fort Wayne Hamfest ends Nov. 20 will receive a chance to win a new TinySA spectrum analyzer in a drawing the club plans at the hamfest.
Anyone may enter the drawing by mailing their dues payment or paying at the FWRC table during the hamfest. To be included in the drawing, mailed dues payments must arrive at the FWRC post office box by noon, Dec. 17.
The club will sell additional raffle entries for $1.00 each. Payment for such additional entries may be included with mailed dues or made at the club table at the hamfest.
Every person who pays 2023 dues will also receive a new club decal, suitable for display on vehicles and elsewhere. Members may purchase additional decals for $1.00 each.
The drawing prize, manufactured by SeeSii, will include the latest firmware version (V0.3.1). Its input frequency range is 100 kHz to 960 MHz (MF thru UHF). The device features a 2.8-inch touch screen and provides electrostatic discharge protection on its inputs. It includes a signal generator that provides a low-level sine wave output between 100 KHz and 350 MHz and a square wave output from 240 MHz thru 960 MHz. The signal generator is used for automatic self test and calibration.
Members who have already paid their 2023 dues are already entered in the drawing. As of November 14, those members include KD9HWH, K9UWA, KC9GGV, W4UHF, WA9BBN, KA9GKE, N9HRA and N9AKZ.

The Fort Wayne Radio Club will meet Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Church, 4700 Vance Ave, Fort Wayne. Enter the church through door number 2 and go to the big meeting room, Raasch Hall.
Our meetings are open to everyone, not just club members, so if you are interested in Amateur Radio and all the fun you can have, please attend!
This month’s meeting is a week earlier than normal to avoid conflicting with the Fort Wayne Hamfest. Check out the Allen County Ham News for more details on the Hamfest, which is conducted by the Allen County Amateur Radio Technical Society.
Adam Warrix, KD9NRT will present a program on the challenge of earning the DX Century Club award by contacting 100 countries via ham satellites!

The Northern Indiana Weather Forecast Office (WFO) of the National Weather Service plans to host amateur radio operations at its facility near North Webster December 2 and 3 for the agency’s annual Skywarn Recognition Day. The 24-hour special event begins at 0000 UTC Saturday, December 3 (7 p.m. ET Friday, December 2) and ends at 2359 UTC (6:59 p.m. ET) December 3. Thus, Skywarn Recognition Day is a 24-hour day in UTC.
Kosciusko County ARES Emergency Coordinator Brian Sexton, KD9EDR, is coordinating special event station operations at the WFO. He is looking for hams to assist with setup from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET December 2, operations during the period described above, and tear-down at 7 p.m. ET December 3.
Three operators are needed to volunteer for each hour of the 24-hour on-air operation; one each to operate two HF stations and one to operate an IRLP station.
To limit the number of people at the WFO, operators must register for shifts in advance. To do so, send email to kd9edr@arrl.net in which you provide your name, call sign, contact information and a list of the shifts you’d like to fill, including setup, tear-down and operating shifts. For example, you could offer to operate from 11 p.m. Friday night to 1 a.m. Saturday morning, if that fits your schedule.
All licensed amateur radio operators who live anywhere in the 37-county area served by the Northern Indiana WFO are welcome to register.
Shifts will be assigned on a first come, first served basis, so Brian will reply to your email with confirmation of when you can operate.

The Fort Wayne Radio Club meets Friday, October 21 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Avenue. The meeting beings at 7 p.m. in Raasch Hall. That’s the large meeting room with a nice projection screen and audio system. We will meet in this room from now on.
Attendees should enter through door number 2.
Adam Warrix, KD9NRT will present this month’s program, on using software-defined radios for satellite work.
The club will also elect officers for 2023. There is still time to nominate someone (including yourself) for a position on the club’s board of directors.
Also, club leaders will present ideas for a club window sticker that could be given to all 2023 members.

The Fort Wayne Radio Club September fox (hidden transmitter) hunt is scheduled for Sunday, September 18, at 1:30 pm.
As usual, it will start from the parking lot at 24/30 Surplus (a former K-Mart store), 932 N. Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne. The fox will be on 146.430 MHz FM simplex. The intercom for the event will be the 146.76 MHz repeater in Fort Wayne.
The Fort Wayne Radio Club meets Friday, September 16, at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church at 4700 Vance Ave in Fort Wayne, just south of Snider High School.
The program will be by Carlos Ortiz, KD9OLN, on using a Raspberry Pi to make an airplane tracker.
Other business for the night will include nominations for club officers for next year. You can nominate whomever you would like, or self nominate if you would like to help out on the board of directors.
